    Download the Forge installer
    • Link
      • To install, simply double-click the .jar file and choose to install as a client.

    Download one of the Optifine packages

    Download the GLSL Shaders Mod
    • Link
      • To install, simply place the .jar file into your .minecraft/mods folder, create the "mods" folder if it does not exist.

    Download one of the Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders

    Final steps and running the mods
    1. Start the Minecraft launcher
    2. Choose the Forge profile in the lower left and log-in
    3. Play
    4. Options > Shaders
    5. Choose your SUES shader. You can have one or all of the SUES packs in there to choose from to experiment with the best performing one.
    Tips
    • If you are enabling "Chunk Loading: Multi-Core" in OptiFine, which increases performance if your PC is compatible, then you should disable "Threaded Optimization" or "OpenGL Threading" in your video card's control panel software.
    • To disable waving grass wheat, and/or leaves
      • Open up the .zip'd shader pack you are using in .minecraft/shaderpacks and edit the gbuffers_terrain.vsh file with notepad or notepad2.
    Find:
    Code (text):

    #define WAVING_GRASS
    #define WAVING_WHEAT
    #define WAVING_LEAVES

    Change them to:
    Code (text):

    //#define WAVING_GRASS
    //#define WAVING_WHEAT
    //#define WAVING_LEAVES

    This comments the lines out so they aren't active.

    This is so damn hard for me. I did everything correctly, but the Shaders option still isn't showing up in the Options menu.

    Am I not getting help with this? Optifine works fine, but the shaders I can't seem to get working.

    Did you choose the Forge profile in the lower left of the Minecraft client and log-in?

    Don't know what to say. Start from scratch. The guide worked for Darky without issue.

    Finally got it to work after all this time. The problem was the download for GLSL gave me a Folder when it should have given me a Jar.
